We welcome you to Twitchers Nest, where our dedicated team of three is here to provide you with an exceptional experience during your stay. As a self-catering bush retreat, we pride ourselves in offering a balance of attentive service and personal privacy, allowing you to unwind and immerse yourself in the serene surroundings.

Our lodge manager and skilled ranger resides on-site and is your go-to person for all things lodge-related. With an extensive knowledge of the local wildlife and environment, he is ready to take you on game drives, where you can witness the beauty of nature up close. When hes not guiding guests, he enjoys tending to the expansive property of over one hectare, ensuring that everything is in order while you take your time to relax and recharge.

Our dedicated, daily housekeeper works to maintain a pristine environment throughout the lodge. Her meticulous attention to detail guarantees that the lodge is always spotless, with freshly made beds and sparkling clean dishes, allowing you to focus solely on enjoying your stay.

Our talented groundskeeper is responsible for the indigenous garden and outdoor areas of the lodge. He is on hand to assist with your arrival and departure, making sure that everything is taken care of so you feel welcomed and settled in from the moment you arrive.

Together, we strive to create a warm and inviting atmosphere at Twitchers Nest, ensuring that your getaway is not only comfortable but also filled with unforgettable experiences in the heart of nature.

I started my guiding career in 2011. It was in the Waterberg mountains where my passion for the bush truly sparked to life. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin. The Waterberg is a great place, rich in biodiversity and wrapped in those wide, breathing landscapes that stay with you long after you leave.

After four years in the Waterberg, curiosity nudged me toward new horizons. I began working with different tour operators, guiding a variety of experiences. Some were educational tours with students, buzzing with questions and wonder. Others were easygoing holiday escapes for guests wanting to unwind. I even had the chance to work with aircrew members who stayed in South Africa for a few days on layovers before taking to the skies again.

In 2018, my path led me to the Pilanesberg as a freelance guide. It turned out to be the perfect next step. Freelancing across almost all the lodges gave me the chance to explore every corner of the park. Then came the lockdown of 2019–2020, and like many in the industry, I struggled to find my way back. But the bush has a habit of opening doors when the time is right. Eventually, I was offered an incredible opportunity to work in Black Rhino Game Reserve. And that’s where the next chapter began.

Twitcher’s Nest

Twitcher’s Nest is a private Lodge that is owned by numerous shareholders….. I get to know every shareholders interests and what to focus on when they are at the Lodge. Some like to do intense birding having fun in the bush…. and some are staying at the lodge just relaxing. Then there are those that like to do long park drives and braai in the bush. Even night drives is an option. Most nights there will be a nice bush fire where stories will be shared of the day.

At Twitcher’s nest it’s not just about guiding, but to create an overall bush experience for guests that visit. That also includes maintenance, gardening etc.

We are 3 staff members that will create an awesome bush experience.
